Bidding Farewell to the Goddess

On Dussehra today, we all know that we burn the effigies of Ravana as a triumph of good over evil.

But there is another deity whom we bid farewell to. She is the mighty and powerful Goddess Durga and today is the day she is immersed. So what is the story behind the Goddess?

Check out this link to see a beautifully illustrated story of Durga and Mahisasura.

And now that you know so much about the goddess, we have got you a step by step craft to make today. How about making a Durga Mask? Follow the pictures below and make your own beautiful creation – all you need is some coloured paper, scissors and glue. So what are you waiting for?

The black circles in the eyes can be cut up with the help of an adult so that you can see when you are wearing the mask. And don’t forget to tie an elastic band or a ribbon behind the ears to help you tie the mask to your head.

Happy Dussehra to all.
