Nidhi, a student in my adult classes had generously donated a bunch of picture postcards from her various travels around the globe. I used these as a starting point for an assignment on landscape and colour. Students selected their postcard and pasted it anywhere on their art sheet. Using paint and crayons, they extended the landscape , matching colours closely and adding details. In the process, they learnt about space, background and middle ground and foreground as well.

The artist William Wegman has a whole book of postcard paintings like this! Super cool!

Thank you so much for the suggestion. I googled the postcard paintings and they are just amazing!! Most of the kids have completed the work on these but it will be truly beneficial to show them these works. Thanks once again.
