Stained Glass Windows tell our Stories

After a visit to the church to study stained glass windows, the kids learnt that these windows told the story of Christ. They made some sketches in the church and explored the various shapes of the windows.Field-Trip-1-WebBack in the studio, they used long sheets of paper to tell their story. They outlined their drawings in black markers and coloured them in with bright coloured crayons.DSC_0030-WebThese drawings were framed with black windows to look like the church windows. And finally, the magic moment arrived when they rubbed the back of the drawings with cotton dipped in oil. Voila, the pictures suddenly became translucent and when held against the light, looked like stained glass!DSC_0043-Web
