Looking inside the Flowers

Continuing with our theme of Inside Outside, we moved on to looking at paintings of the American artist, Georgia O’Keeffe. Her paintings go deep inside the details of flowers and bones and force us to look at it. We started by drawing various kinds of flowers using simple shapes and variations.

For our final painting, the kids had to choose one of the images of flowers and find an interesting part that they would enlarge. They learnt how to use a viewfinder to find the best composition. After enlarging the picture, they were given a magnifying glass with which they looked at the details in the chosen image and added it to their drawings. See how engrossed they seem. It was a great way to get them to notice the smallest detail.
