Value-able Compositions

Middle school children used their knowledge of the various elements and principles of art to create a composition with three elements. The three elements were: A white object rendered with more than 4 values of grey, a patterned fabric and a motif to complete the composition.

The surface for the paintings were  cardboard from discarded cartons, covered with newspaper. Backgrounds were painted in translucent color to allow the newsprint to show through. Here are some pictures of the process and the final results.
