Dragons havealways fascinated children and that makes it really easy to get them to be very involved in an assignement about dragons. They are also aware that this is the year of the dragon.
I had collected a lot of fabric scraps with beautiful colours and patterns on them. We decided to use these scraps to create our dragons. Some of the fabrics were thin and flimsy and that makes it really hard for children to cut them. Therefore, the first step was to paste the scraps on paper…(tip: you can use up paper which has discarded sketches or drawings, or waste paper from company reports.) When the glue is dry, cutting the scraps of fabric is as easy as cutting paper..and what’s more, the glue prevents the fabric from fraying.
Children cut the parts of the dragon from different fabrics and assembled it on a coloured sheet. They added googly eyes and finished their dragons with gold outliner and sequins.
