Bugs All Around

This exersize was a good way to show my students that almost anything can be used as a design element. They first learned how to draw insects. I showed them many images of different bugs, which they copied out and coloured in. I then folded  large squares of  paper in to fourths diagonally. Their task was to, within one triangle, arrange an insect in an interesting way with designs all around. I showed them how to trace these out using a lightbox, and the repeated their design on the other three triangles of thier squares. They outlined them with black markers and painted them in- their radial designs were ready
